Each year we end library classes examining animal features and taking a close look at what makes animals unique. We many times will explore live animal cams and take note of what we see, hear and observe. We also have a little fun with BuildYourWildSelf, or SwitchZoo websites where you can create yourself as a mix of animals! (check back on BuildYourWildSelf as it appears to be down during this time) Super fun!

May 20th is World Bee Day! Bees and other pollinators, such as butterflies, bats and hummingbirds, are increasingly under threat from human activities. Pollination is, however, a fundamental process for the survival of our ecosystems. Nearly 90% of the world’s wild flowering plant species depend, entirely, or at least in part, on animal pollination, along with more than 75% of the world’s food crops and 35% of global agricultural land. Not only do pollinators contribute directly to food security, but they are key to conserving biodiversity. To raise awareness of the importance of pollinators, the threats they face and their contribution to sustainable development, the UN designated 20 May as World Bee Day.

Use the cloud picture chart above and the Cloud Observation sheet to begin to identify what you see! Clouds are fascinating and just one way meteorologists can predict and confirm weather activity!

I love the Library!! It is by far my favorite spot at Canal School! Blog GuidelinesB= Be brief. Think about what you want to say and check your spelling.
L= Log on correctly. Do not use your full name, only your initials or first name. You do not want to share personal information. O= Opinion. This is your opinion about a book or reading. However make sure your comments are appropriate. Ask yourself "is this post inappropriate or immature in any way?". G= Global. Anyone in the world might be reading your post. Your are representing yourself, your class, your school and your country. This is both exciting and an awesome responsibility. Archives
